There are many ways to become involved in affecting change within our community. Active participation is encouraged and new members are most welcome. Please feel free to contact any of those listed below for more information, or come to a ministry meeting to learn more about how you
can make a difference in the lives of others.
Areas of Involvement
Good Samaritan
Meets four times per year for the purpose of making
recommendations to support various charities, causes
or organizations.
Food Pantry
Food products are collected, sorted and distributed on the
last weekend of the month in the lower hall.
UCAN
United Churches Assistance Network operates out of the
Yellow House and provides assistance to those within our
community who find themselves in temporary need of financial
help.
Outreach - Sarah's Hope Mount Street
Sarah's Hope is a 24-hour shelter for homeless women and children. St. Joseph's support's this program through our Young Adults, who provide and serve a noon meal on the third Saturday of the month. If you are interested in this program you can contact Joe Liberto or Sr. Rose.
Beyond the Boundaries
Beyond the Boundaries raises awareness, collaborates, and promotes advocacy to achieve justice while striving to influence plans and policies that provide the best opportunities for all. Affordable housing, in mixed income neighborhoods, to disperse pockets of poverty, is the top priority for Beyond the Boundaries.
Tri-Parish Partnership
Various projects to benefit and support our sister parish,
St. Peter the Apostle, St. Jerome's and St. Martin's
(Transfiguration Catholic Community) are conducted
throughout the year.Our main project is Adopt-A-Family which takes place during Advent. For more information and/or to take part in this program contact Sr. Rose at the parish office.
Clothing Drive
Three times yearly, October, March and May we conduct a clothing drive
benefiting St. Vincent de Paul Society. Clothing is distributed through St. Vincent's mobile clothing bank.
Cold Weather Shelter
Located in the Essex area near Franklin Square Hospital, is staffed
by volunteers and operates throughout the winter to serve the
homeless of Baltimore County. Volunteers from St. Joseph's
staff the shelter on Saturdays during the winter.
Habitat for Humanity
Project takes place in the spring of each year and is sponsored
by United Churches coalition. Currently fourteen churches are
participating in refurbishing a house in the Pigtown/Washington Village area
of the city in order to provide housing for a working poor family. Volunteers are always welcome.
