Welcome

I would like to welcome you to St. Joseph Parish School, also serving The Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier. What began as a relatively small, Catholic school staffed by the Sisters of Mercy in 1926, has grown into a diverse campus with a population of over 320 students.  St. Joseph School is fortunate to have a certified staff of very dedicated people who demonstrate care and concern for all the students, thus creating a family friendly atmosphere.

We offer an excellent academic program for our Primary, Intermediate and Middle School students.  We give our students a solid, faith filled foundation for further studies, while encouraging each child to fulfill his or her potential.  We are very proud of our students' accomplishments and the scholarships that they receive to various high schools.

Ninety-eight per cent of our students further their education in Catholic high schools, where they perform extremely well.  St. Joseph School also offers a range of excellent extracurricular activities and the following clubs: Get Fit, Cooking, Spirit, Production, Newspaper, Robotics, Service, Photography, Walking, and Sewing. There are environmental and cultural programs for our Middle School students.  All of our students have the opportunity to participate in various service projects throughout the year.

At St. Joseph School, our teachers guide the students in our tradition, reinforcing Catholic values.  We work together with our families to support and encourage the faith development of our pupils and are proud of the Christian atmosphere that exists at our school.  Our Sacramental Program offers a time of special grace where our children begin to have an awareness of and a relationship with our Loving God.

It is our aim to create a sense of belonging, which will nurture each child's growth and help create a healthy self-esteem, so necessary for learning.  Parental involvement in every child's education is essential and is always welcome.

We invite all parents to attend and participate in our school liturgies, celebrations, information meetings, and parent home school evenings. We encourage parents to assist as volunteers with class activities, field day events and fairs. We hope every school family's association with St. Joseph School is a long and happy one.

St. Joseph School is our school.  My prayer is that all of us – parents, teachers, and students – can work and pray together each year for a spiritually enriching and academically successful experience for all of our children, and that we can carefully carry out the example of Jesus Christ through education, service, and worship.

Sincerely,

Mr. Terrance Golden
Principal
