Children and Family Ministry

Below is a list of ministries offered to our children and their families at St. Joseph Parish. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer, please contact Amy Buttarazzi, abuttarazzi@sjpmd.org.

Sunday Nursery: For children ages, 6 months to age 4 located in the Sunday Nursery off the school courtyard during the 9 am and 10:30 am Masses.

C.L.O.W.: Children’s Liturgy of the Word is for children ages 4 to 7 and is offered at the 4 pm Saturday Mass as well as the 9 am, 10:30 am, and 12 noon Sunday Masses. During the Liturgy of the Word, children are taken to the Multi-Purpose Room, the Children’s Chapel below the sanctuary, or the Parish Center to hear the gospel adapted to their learning level. After hearing a message that connects them to the gospel, adult volunteers bring the students back to church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Faith Formation: Students in Pre–K (age 4) through grade 5 are invited to enroll in our Faith Formation Programs on Saturday night or Sunday morning.  Saturday nights are from 5:30–6:45 pm and Sunday mornings from 10:15–11:30 am.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist for Children: All students in second grade or above are invited to register for our sacramental preparation program in the fall. Children prepare and experience their First Reconciliation during the first semester, followed by their First Eucharist preparation and celebration in the second semester.

Marriage Preparation: We offer both Pre-Cana classes and a sponsor couple program for couples preparing for marriage. To register, contact Amy Buttarazzi, abuttarazzi@sjmpd.org

Baptismal Preparation: All parents and Godparents are invited to attend our baptism classes in preparation for their child’s or Godchild’s baptism. Classes are offered the second Thursdays of the month from 7–9 pm in the Parish Center. To register, contact Amy Buttarazzi, abuttarazzi@sjmpd.org

Walking with Purpose (WWP): All women are invited to join WWP small groups on Friday mornings, 10–11:30 am or Tuesday evenings, 7:30–9 pm from October through April in the Parish Center. Childcare is provided.
